Taemin : The Genderless King Of K-Pop
Lee Taemin is an amazing artist that I have been following for many years. He was under SM Entertainment but left in 2024 and went to BPM Entertainment.
Taemin is a member of the k-pop group Shinee. Shinee debuted on May 25, 2008 under SM Entertainment.
But Taemin was also chosen to be a part of the k-pop super group called SuperM. SuperM debuted on October 4th, 2019.
SuperM was a group that I followed pretty much from their debut. I loved watching artists from all different groups come together to create one team. I absolutely loved watching them all together!
SuperM are currently inactive. Unfortunately though I do not think they will ever come back together. But you never know, maybe one day it could happen!
One thing that I absolutely love about Taemin is that he has said on multiple occasions that he aims to achieve a genderless concept or vibe.
Taemin is also an amazing soloist!
His music and music videos are always amazing to watch. They tell amazing stories and very thought provoking and entertaining!
I would love to recommend some songs for new fans of Taemin or maybe you have never listened to his music before and want to start! I would love to share some of my favorites and maybe they will become yours as well!
One song that I would highly recommend to everyone is Guilty. Guilty came out on October 30, 2023. When this song came out, I listened to it non stop and still to this day I absolutely love it!
Not only is the music video really thought provoking, but the lyrics themselves are also very thought provoking.
Some lyrics include “Make you addicted, you can’t tell pain from love… that’s what we’ve become… on that vague border between good and bad.”
A few other lyrics that really stand out to me are, “You got me G-U-I-L-T-Y… Trick and take everything from you… Again, just playing a game all for fun… hundreds of lies… I want you to lose yourself… that’s what’ll make our love easy… the bigger the pain, the sweeter it remains.”
Another incredible part of this comeback was the choreography. I think it is incredible and fits the song so well. And because Taemin is such an amazing dancer it made it even more impactful!

Move is one of the first songs that I heard from Taemin! Move was released on October 16, 2017. This song made me want to really learn more about him and listen to more of his music.
I wish that I would have already known about Taemin before this came out so I could experience what it was like when it was new music and just released. I did not get into k-pop until 2018. But this is an incredible song and the choreography is also incredible. I would say subtle at times but still very impactful.

The song titled Sexy In The Air was released on August 19, 2024. I was so excited for this release because it was his first comeback under his new company BPM Entertainment.
My absolute favorite part of the song is at the middle where he says, “Damn this is crazy, what am I gonna do now.. Cuz my heart is full of soul… Cuz I’m desperately trynna find my fake and real… time to reveal it all… a feeling that flows freely within me”
During this part of the song the instrumental completely changes, it makes it seem like a totally different song lol. Below is the music video!
The song The Rizzness was released on October 30, 2023. I love the editing and transitions in this video. They are done so well!
The choreography is also incredible!
Also the contrast between the black and white outfits is so good. This could possibly be showing the contrast between good and evil? Below is the performance video!
Advice is a song that I was completely obsessed with when it first came out. I thought the concept, styling, theme, music, and music video were all incredible.
This was also the final release Taemin would put out before his mandatory enlistment, so I think for me it was especially impactful and special.
Some lyrics from this song include, “The more you try to trap me, I’ll go off the rails so take a good look… if you want to see the end, push my buttons… It’s for you, One advice… best take my own advice.”
The song Heaven, literally makes you feel like you are in heaven when you listen to it. At least for me lol. It is so grand and ethereal. It was released on November 9, 2020. I would love to see this song live!
These are one a few of Taemin’s songs that I love. He is such an incredible artist and deserves all the love he receives and more. He is always telling a story with each song or music video and they all leave such a big impact.
Taemin always makes me smile and he is so fun to watch! He is so funny, talented, down to earth and adorable at the same time lol.
Everything he releases can be interpreted in many ways. I would highly recommend listening to and following Taemin! I can not wait to see what he does in the future!
