WayV : The Amazing Chinese Sub-Unit of NCT!

WayV are a six member group based out of Korea under Label V, which is SM Entertainment’s China label.

WayV debuted on January 17, 2019.

The members include, Kun, Ten, WinWin, XiaoJun, Hendery, and YangYang.

Lucas is a former member of WayV.

WayV is a group I have been following since about 2020. I absolutely love their music.

Every album they come out with is so fun and different from the last but I can still definitely see that it’s the same WayV I really enjoy!

I first found the group WayV because I was a big fan of NCT and WayV is the Chinese sub-unit of NCT!

NCT is very unique in general because they have many different sub-units or groups that form NCT. A few examples include NCT Dream, NCT 127 and of course WayV.

One of my bias’ or favorite member is YangYang. YangYang is the maknae or youngest member in WayV. He is a rapper but also a great dancer!

I love his rap style, it is intense and subtle at the same time if that makes sense lol? I also find him really funny. I love watching him interact with the other members of the group, especially Ten!

My second bias in WayV is Ten! He is an incredible dancer and performer. He is absolutely captivating to watch on stage. I think he is one of my favorite dancers in the industry. He is also an amazing vocalist!

I would love to recommend some songs to new fans or people that might not know WayV!

The first song I would like to recommend is called Moonwalk. This was the first song that I listened to by WayV!

It was released on Oct 29, 2019.

This music video does a great job of depicting space. Especially the space ship scenes where Ten is dancing and the almost barren landscape that they are dancing together at as a group!

The choreography is also a great fit for the song and shows the space theme as well!

Take Off is another one of the first songs that I listened to by WayV! It came out on May 9, 2019.

I don’t know how to explain this properly but it definitely gives off an expensive vibe lol! The sets like the airport, mansion and car scenes definitely show this.

A really fun part of the video is at around 40 seconds in, when YangYang throws a helmet down in front of him and the camera follows.

The next scene is Hendery almost pulling the camera up, which was so fun! I also loved his rap verse here too! You can listen to the song below~

Turn Back Time is such a fun song. It came out on June 9, 2020. The music video is really incredible to watch too! Each member has their own set, persona, or character.

My absolute favorite part of the song is around 1:50 minutes in, it starts with XiaoJun singing, he has such a beautiful and powerful voice.

It then goes to YangYang rapping intensely and then the music slows down again when Kun starts singing. It then goes to Ten who hits an amazing high note. I love this part!

Phantom is, I think one of my favorite songs by WayV. I love how intense the song is. I absolutely love the stying in the music video as well. It was released on Dec 28, 2022.

This song and music video are very grand and even regal. You can definitely see that in the sets and outfits in the video. They are all dressed in very fancy and prince like outfits.

A few lyrics include, “Through the chaos feeding on fear… Oh standing in the dark… only you can see the truth so babe… look as if there is no mask… The light of truth was never lost.”

I think they all did an incredible job for this comeback. I am still obsessed with this song to this day!

This is a short preview of the song Poppin’ Love! When I first heard this I loved it and listened to it on repeat!

I would highly recommend this song. I think it a very addictive song and love the choreography!

On my Youth is another incredible song. This is also one of my favorite WayV songs. If not my favorite lol. It came out on November 1, 2023.

This song is about no longer being with the person you love. It seems like it was their fault and the mistakes they made or lies they told lead to the relationship ending.

A few lyrics include, “Maybe I had to lose you… Your absence lets the future drift away… Looking back, imagining the pain you felt… Shouldn’t have covered my mistakes with silence… Thick fog lifts and its clearer now… It was all out of my control… now it’s too late to grow up, For you… Blame it on my youth.”

Give Me That is a very fun and bright song! It was released on June 3, 2024. The choreography also fits perfectly with the song, it very fun, chill, playful and satisfying to watch!

This song kind of reminds me of an old school boyband song. It is so fun and catchy!

It is definitely a love song and they are basically asking for the person they like to give them their love. They are saying they can’t live without that person.

A few lyrics from the song include, “All day… Thinking about you… Don’t need no one else now… yeah you can live without me… but please, I can’t, I won’t… Gimme your love.”

The last song I would like to recommend is called Frequency. It was released on November 25, 2024.

I would say that it has a very old school hiphop vibe to it. Definitely a fun song to listen to! I have the Korean version of the song below!

WayV is such an amazing group and in my opinion are very underrated. They deserve so much more recognition!

They work so hard on everything they do and are incredibly talented. And their music is always fun and impactful at the same time. They are also hilarious people and always make me smile.

I would highly recommend learning more about WayV! I am excited to see what the future holds for WayV!
